MitoEAGLE Short-Term Scientific Mission
- Work Plan summary
- Cartilage tissue is avascular, aneural and aliphatic by this special environmental inside the joint. The chondrocytes (only type of cell present in the tissue) live in a medium with low O2 pressure and low glucose concentration. This specialized cells are essentials in the maintenance the integrity of the tissue. Study the capturing capacity of glucose and in other way the FA could be very interesting for complete my data.
- I want to analyze the glucose and FA accumulation in cybrids from OA and healthy patients with two different mtDNA haplogroups, one of them (H) the most common in European population and the other (J) related with a low incidence and progression of the pathology.
- Glucose accumulation studied the uptaken 14C-DOG was also very interesting because our data showed that cybrids, obtained in our laboratory, have different glycolysis capacity and glycolysis reserve. In this line of results will be interesting evaluated the capacity of the different cybrids, to uptake glucose from the culture medium. In this line of results I evaluated, in the culture medium, the glucose consumption and lactic production and the OA and N cybrids and data showed differences between both type of cybrids. In the part of FA accumulation, association between FA and OA have been described and recently started to define a type of pathology related with me metabolic syndrome.
