How to get there
- By air
- Portugal has two main airports: Lisbon Airport and Oporto Airport. Lisbon Airport is 200 km away from Coimbra while Oporto Airport is 130 km away. Lisbon is however a more convenient location to reach Coimbra.
- Transfer from Lisbon Airport to Coimbra
- By train
- If you arrive arrives by plane to Lisbon you should take a cab (it should cost less than 10 dollars, or 5 to 7 Euros) to the train station Estacao Oriente. The itinerary is from Oriente station to Coimbra-B station. Lisboa-Coimbra (direction Braga). There are trains almost every hour.
- In order to know the timetables, you see check the website: www.cp.pt, and then you choose “Timetables” – “Alfa Pendular and Intercidades” - “Lisboa/Porto-Braga-Guimarães”. You will see then the timetable of departure at “LISBOA-ORIENTE” and the timetable of arrival at “COIMBRA-B”. At COIMBRA-B train station, you may take a taxi to the Hotel.
- By train
- Transfer from Oporto Airport to Coimbra
- By train
- Take a taxi to the train station “CAMPANHÔ and there you may take Long Distance trains. In order to know the timetables, you may consult the website: www.cp.pt, and then you must choose “Timetables” – “Alfa Pendular and Intercidades” - “Lisboa/Porto- Braga-Guimarães”. Abstracts and scholarships
- MitoEAGLE scholarships are offered to fully support participation of students and young investigators. Scholarships will be granted to participants with extended or regular abstracts submitted in advance, evaluated by MitoEAGLE MC members, and for extended abstracts, accepted for preprint publication in MitoFit Preprint Archives.
- » Option A: Extended abstracts
- » Otpion B: Abstract format
- Topics
- Address a topic of the MitoEAGLE Working Groups
- Present your abstract as a definition of a term in the context of mitochondrial physiology that is missing in MitoPedia. - » MitoPedia
- Abstract submission: until June 17, 2019.
MitoEAGLE Scholarships
- Eligibility: Participants from all official COST countries (details) can apply - MitoEAGLE network.
- The COST MitoEAGLE grant is a financial support to cover the local costs (accommodation, meals) and partly travel.
- » Notification of MitoEAGLE scholarships until June 25.
MitoEAGLE and MiPsociety
- MitoEAGLE
- The MitoEAGLE network aims to improve our knowledge on mitochondrial function in health and disease related to Evolution, Age, Gender, Lifestyle and Environment. Every study of mitochondrial (mt) function and disease is faced with EAGLE as the essential background conditions characterizing the individual patient, subject, study group, species, tissue or even cell line.
- Membership in the MitoEAGLE network is open to all researchers sharing an interest in mitochondrial research and medicine
- » Join the COST Action CA15203 MITOEAGLE
- MitoEAGLE
- MiPsociety
- The MiPsociety is an international organization, based in Austria and operating world-wide. It has become a legal body in 2011 continuing a tradition of rigorous mitochondrial bioenergetics; integrating molecular, cellular and organismic physiology and pathology.
- Membership is open to all researchers

Feedback from the MiPschool Tromso-Bergen 2018
- The evaluation of the present and previous training schools will be integrated into the programme of the MitoEAGLE/MiPschool 2019 in Coimbra, PT:
- Abstracts selected for oral presentations (10+5 min) are retained - training for conference presentations with critical discussions.
- Meet the expert sessions are emphasized - training in small groups, discussions on a large variety of topics.
- Introductory lectures are extended, replacing conference-style presentations by invited lecturers. Three specific topics are introduced in detail:
- (a) reproducibility of sample preparations;
- (b) concepts of respirometric SUIT protocols;
- (c) interpretation of results.
- The evaluation of the present and previous training schools will be integrated into the programme of the MitoEAGLE/MiPschool 2019 in Coimbra, PT:
