The Scientific Committee suggested that the  proposed Action must develop and implement specific plans to increase  the involvement of Early Career Investigators and for maintaining and monitoring  gender balance. Furthermore, we will need a balance of  Participants from all the Working Groups in the MC, so that all WGs are  represented well in the course of the Action. For more information, see » [[Join the COST Action CA15203 MITOEAGLE]].

At a first glance, the four Working Groups (WGs) seem to be appropriate for the consortium. Feel free to update or change your selection of the WGs you will join, particularly when the WGs will be elaborated more precisely. Please note that we have changed the focus from “human and mouse models” to “human and rodent models”. Furthermore, we would like to ask you, whether you consider the specific focus on gender to be appropriate or if we should keep a general balance for all EAGLE topics (Evolution - Age - Gender - Lifestyle – Environment)?

Circulars towards the 1st MC meeting

2016-03-21 MITOEAGLE Management Committee nominations

Dear colleague,
We would like to follow-up regarding the nominations to the Management Committee of the COST Action MITOEAGLE.
For more information, see » Join the COST Action CA15203 MITOEAGLE.
Therefore, please ask your COST National Coordinator (CNC) to take this into consideration when nominating the MC Members and Substitutes. To achieve an optimum balance in choosing your MC Members, it may be best practice to list all national COST Participants when contacting your CNC. For the list of participants, see
» MITOEAGLE-Feedback
» MITOEAGLE network
Your feedback will be summarized here: » MITOEAGLE-Feedback

Dear colleague,
We would like to let you know that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the COST Action MITOEAGLE has been published on e-COST: » http://www.cost.eu/COST_Actions/ca/CA15203.
1. If you are interested in being part of the Management Committee (MC), please contact us with a very brief outline of your active role in the Action: choice of Working Group(s) - MITOEAGLE#Working_Groups. We will need a balance of MC members in the working groups and management tasks.
2. Even if you are listed in the Network of Proposers, you will have to contact your COST National Coordinator (CNC) who will be responsible for your participation in the MITOEAGLE Action and the nominations to the Management Committee.
» COST Action MITOEAGLE
» Join the COST Action CA15203 MITOEAGLE
As soon as the MoU has been accepted by five Countries through their respective CNCs, the Action can officially start. The COST Association will organize the kick-off meeting of our Action.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Approval

2016-02-15 COST MITOEAGLE was approved

Dear colleague,
We are delighted to inform you that our COST Action proposal “Mitochondrial mapping: Evolution - Age - Gender - Lifestyle - Environment (MITOEAGLE)” was approved by the COST Committee of Senior Officials. The very positive evaluation of MITOEAGLE (» MITOEAGLE evaluation highlights) is truly overwhelming, especially taking into consideration that the success rate of COST applications submitted by the September collection date was only 10%.
We would like to thank you very much for supporting this Action and inform you that we have re-opened the MITOEAGLE website: » MITOEAGLE.
We will follow up with next steps ASAP and are looking forward to a prosperous collaboration!
Best regards,
Sandra

Partner circulars Proposal phase

2015-02-27 COST MITOEAGLE

Dear COST Action Participants,
We would like to welcome you to MITOEAGLE. We are overwhelmed by the numerous responses (46 groups) and the great interest in this COST Action, which encourages us in our ambitions.
For up-to-date information on participants and Working Groups, please check the following links:
» http://www.bioblast.at/index.php/COST_MITOEAGLE (*)
At a first glance, the four Working Groups (WGs) seem to be appropriate for the consortium. Feel free to update or change your selection of the WGs you will join, particularly when the WGs will be elaborated more precisely. Please note that we have changed the focus from “human and mouse models” to “human and rodent models”. Furthermore, we would like to ask you, whether you consider the specific focus on gender to be appropriate or if we should keep a general balance for all EAGLE topics (Evolution - Age - Gender - Lifestyle – Environment)?
In order to participate in a COST Action, participants will need to register in the COST electronic database, e-COST, with affiliation profile and CV. Multiple participants may register for each institution. Registration is very simple and straightforward and can be found on:
We would like to ask you to forward us the name of your groups' main contact person (first name, last name) and the corresponding e-mail used in the e-COST registration within the next week. ‘Proposers’ will then be invited among the main contact persons through the e-COST submission tool. ‘Proposers’ have to finally accept the invitation by following the link in the invitation e-mail.
Sandra will manage these further steps in our COST Action application.
Best regards,

Erich and Sandra

Partner invitation 2015-02-24

Dear colleague:
The reason for this Email is to follow up on an idea discussed over the past year at various meetings all over the world, on a global mitochondrial network to bring together scattered data in the field of mitochondrial physiology and medicine.
The project is called MitoGlobal EAGLE or mtEAGLE, for Evolution, Age, Gender, Lifestyle and Environment. The attached summary of the mtEAGLE project is a first draft for a COST project proposal – open for discussion and further elaboration. COST Actions support networking, not primary research (see below).
In the attached draft, four working groups (WG) are suggested:
  • WG1. mtEAGLE data base on gender and mt-function in health and disease
  • WG2. Challenges on quality control for sharing data in mitochondrial physiology
  • WG3. Interlaboratory test and outreach
  • WG4. Training and data sharing
The deadline for submission is 2015 March 24. To get an idea, can you let me know if you are interested in the project in general, and which working groups you might be interested in participating?
I am looking forward to your feedback. If you agree and you are going to be ‘on board’, we would add you to the list of the (informal) EAGLE consortium:

  • COST Actions are networks centred around nationally funded research projects in fields that are of interest to at least five COST countries.
  • The financial support averages EUR 130 000 per year for a four-year period. - http://www.cost.eu/COST_ActionsEarly Stage Researcher (ESR) - is a term used to define a researcher whose career spans less than 8 years between the date of the PhD/doctorate (or similar experience) and the date of involvement in the COST Action. Periods of career leave have to be added to this time span. COST approved a specific strategy for early stage researchers.
