Talk:Bioblast alert 2015
Bioblast alert - in preparation
Bioblast alert ### to select
- O2k-Publication: Efficiency, basal respiration, and oxygen kinetics in human muscle or Mitochondrial efficiency and P/O flux ratios: new perspectives in mitochondrial physiology (see Journal club);
- Larsen FJ, Schiffer TA, Borniquel S, Sahlin K, Ekblom B, Lundberg JO, Weitzberg E (2011) Dietary inorganic nitrate improves mitochondrial efficiency in humans. Cell Metab 13: 149-159.
- > they are using atractyloside in this paper and did not define it - just a link to Brand MD, Pakay JL, Ocloo A, Kokoszka J, Wallace DC, Brookes PS, Cornwall EJ (2005) The basal proton conductance of mitochondria depends on adenine nucleotide translocase content. Biochem J 392:353-62; in this paper they use CAT (carboxyatractyloside) from Calbiochem. Which atractyloside is Larsen FJ using and from which source? - email to Larsen FJ 2012-01-26

- Before alert, ask to join as MiPNet Reference Lab, and present new MiPNet Reference Lab
- Term: efficiency versus P/O ratio
- Scientific service: Oxygen regime for permeabilized fibres - reoxygenations in MiR06.
Bioblast alert - concept
Here is a brief summary on the concept of Bioblast alert.
Some of the following topics (not more than four per alert) will be selected for a Bioblast alert.
MiPNet O2k-Publications
- Topic: O2-kinetics; coupling; pathology; ...
- Preparation: Homogenate/isolated mitochondria; intact/permeabilized cells; permeabilized fibre/in vivo
- Protocols
MiPNet Laboratories of the World
Contact the MiPNet laboratories: show link on the wiki, ask for updates on group, references, website, perhaps major projects (HypoxiaNet), perhaps add pictures, perhaps keywords/short description. Circular: link to presented lab / special occasion (e.g. publication; conference presentation; new member; PhD thesis, ..
High-resolution terminology
- high-resolution terminology - matching measurement at high-resolution. Term of the week: Basal respiration
- Define β Measure: terminology and experimental approach
- Define β Clarify: consider discrepancies, resolve problems
MiPevents
- Conferences and Workshops
Bioblast
- What is new or updated on the website: Lists (chemicals, protocols, scientific service, ..)
- Projects in mitochondrial science (COST HypoxiaNet; Framework programs; ..)
- Links on the Bioblast website; networking in mitochondrial science, presentation of: MIG List, Mitochondrion journal and website; Mitochondrial Societies
- MitoCom News
Bioblast editors
A Bioblast editor may select an O2k-Publication (or a small number of related publications), particularly from a MiPNet Reference Laboratory, may get in contact with the particular reference lab, update info on the lab, and βpresentβ the lab in the alert. A term may be selected (perhaps related to the publication), updated, discussed in our group, and then presented in the alert. An editor does not even have to present an entire alert, but may prepare individual βpointsβ, which then can be added to a particular alert. As Bioblast is updated, the updated βarticleβ (term, publication etc) can be added to the prepared points for a future alert.
Draft letter to MiPNet Reference Laboratories
Dear colleague:
As you may have seen from previous circulars, we try to draw attention to some topics on the Bioblast wiki through βBioblast alertβ - http://www.bioblast.at/index.php/Bioblast_alert. What do you think about such regular alerts?
In a next issue, we would like to present your lab as the βMiPNet Laboratory of the weekβ. If you agree, could you do the following:
Check your lab website on the Bioblast wiki: http://www.bioblast.at/index.php/MiPNet_Reference_Laboratories
1. Is your address and Email correct?
2. Is your βTeamβ listed correctly? (perhaps there are other O2k-users in your lab, which may be added as contacts).
3. Are your O2k-Publications complete on the list?
4. Do you want to add any information on MiPNet Keywords and in the free text below the list of publications? (Link to your website; etc.)
MiPNet Laboratory of the week: Do you want to add any information for βBioblast alertβ?
Looking forward to your comments.
